Vaelios - The Last Sentinel
The world had not seen the sun in decades. Ever since the Obsidian Collapse, when the sky was swallowed by an eternal eclipse, humanity had been forced underground, hiding from the creatures that now ruled the surface. They called them The Hollowborn monstrosities born from the darkness itself, feeding on the last remnants of light.
But there was one man who did not hide.
His name was Vaelios. Once, he had been a scientist, a leader in the last great city of mankind. But when the Hollowborn invaded, his people were slaughtered, and he was left for dead. Yet, instead of dying, he was rebuilt.
A mysterious faction of surviving engineers had saved him, reforging his shattered body with experimental technology. His suit, woven from obsidian mesh, absorbed what little light remained and converted it into raw power. His reflexes were faster than any human’s, his strength beyond natural limits, and his mind enhanced with tactical algorithms. But the true gift, the true curse - was his soul-link to the darkness.
Vaelios could hear the Hollowborn. He could feel their hunger. Their rage. Their fear.
And they feared him.
For years, he fought alone, a lone shadow against the night, pushing back the creatures that hunted the remnants of humanity. But the war was endless, and with every battle, his body decayed, the technology keeping him alive slowly failing.
Then came Elyra a young girl who stumbled into his world, carrying something impossible: a shard of true sunlight.
She was the first human to be born in this age of darkness. The first sign that the world could heal. And the Hollowborn wanted her dead.
Vaelios had spent his life fighting without purpose, killing without hope. But now, for the first time in years, he had something worth protecting.
With Elyra at his side, he made a choice: one final mission. One last war.
The Hollowborn had a master a being of pure void known as The Abyss King, the entity responsible for the eternal eclipse. To end this nightmare, Vaelios had to face him.
And so, with the last embers of his failing body and the light of a single child guiding him, he ventured into the black heart of the world.
Not as a warrior. Not as a machine. But as the last sentinel of humanity.
And this time, he would not fight to survive. He would fight to win.
